Encouraging Reality
Famed US Astronomer & Cosmologist Carl Sagan shared his opinion on the need to search for and face the truth. In these times of doubt and deception, it is vital that we persist in our quest for the truth. As he shared, “it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.”
This is a clear message to retain in light of all the climate change denying and fossil fuel lobbying. The truth is not pleasant. We are warming the planet, endangering human civilization, and threatening countless species.
Instead of reducing carbon emissions as we should, governments and industry are continuing in their pursuit of fossil fuel extraction. It does not look good.

Hope for Humanity
Despite the grim news however, we shouldn’t look away. You can’t simply deny something because you don’t like the answer. It is therefore imperative that we try and understand our present reality and work together to avoid runaway climate change. After all, all we have is this pale blue dot.
